First Appointment - What to Expect

If I haven’t met with you, or if it has been over a year since you have had a treatment with me, I will conduct an acupuncture consultation as well as treatment.  In this session we will talk about past and present health concerns. I will also touch on topics like diet and lifestyle, to create a well-rounded picture that allows me to accurately and properly treat your condition(s) at hand.  Any follow up treatments will be short and sweet on the chit-chat, unless you have questions or like to socialize.  If you just want a quiet, acu-nap, I can make that happen.

I also may check your tongue and pulse.  Although due to Covid, pulses are only being checked for the time being.  Depending on your concern I may also conduct range of motion testing, and conduct light palpation (pressing) along meridian pathways.  All these diagnostic techniques help to give me a better picture of what pattern is presenting in you, and how to best treat you.

Depending on what we are treating, I not only work with acupuncture needles but with many different treatment modalities such as gua sha, tuina, and cupping.  I will cater my treatments to you. After needles are placed, I will leave the room for a few moments for you to fully experience the treatment in a quiet, peaceful, tranquil bliss.

My aim is to create a relaxing environment that is supportive to your healing.  You may feel very relaxed even well after your acupuncture treatment, as acupuncture balances the central nervous system, so take it easy.  Rest and hydrate after your session.  Save your HIIT training or other physically intense exercises for another day.
