Meridian Theory

I came in for treatment of my chronic headaches – why are you putting needles in my hands and feet?

Acupuncture points lie on acupuncture meridians. These points and meridians travel over your entire body; from your toes and fingertips to the top of your head. Meridians that flow through the head have additional points which lie elsewhere on the body that can aid in the treatment of headaches.

There are 12 primary meridians in zang-fu meridian theory-based acupuncture.  This forms the basis for my practice.  Palpating (lightly pressing) along these meridians – from your elbows to your finger tips and from your knees to your toes will provide me with a wealth of information.  This is all part of my holistic style of acupuncture treatment.  Palpation, along with pulse and tongue diagnosis help to provide the acupuncturist with a well-rounded picture.  One which allows the practitioner to better treat the root of the condition experienced by the patient.
